Nice post, very interesting observations.
You focused on comparing the Israeli and German startup scene. Did you also find room for cooperation? Would be interesting to know.

Thanks for the comment. We actually found a lot of willingness to partner. Most of the larger companies we met have an on-going dialog with Israeli startups and as such, were happy to hear about our companies and what can fit their strategy.

In addition, many of the investors were talking about a growing number of Israeli startups that are reaching out for fund raising. This is probably an indication of the growing focus in Israel toward Europe AND the decrease in the number of VCs in the Israeli market

The observation that Israel is more expensive than Germany is quite interesting as I have generally thought of the latter as the wealthier country. How much of this do you think is from general cost of living issues vs the types of companies being started in each country? (e.g. heavy technology cos in Israel vs two kids and a web server in some of the YCombinator style micro-funds you reference)
